But the wideman, who penned a deal until the end of the season with Wrexham earlier this week, is hopeful something will get sorted at Pools “sooner rather than later”.

“It is exciting to come to Wrexham, but it is disappointing what is going on at Hartlepool at the moment,” Franks told the Welsh press.

“It is really sad because it is a really good club and they have been good to me over the years and I have enjoyed my time there.

“It was a shame I couldn’t stay, but these things happen and I am sure they will get sorted, sooner rather than later.

“I have to move on because I am not allowed to stay there and Wrexham made me feel wanted, so I had no hesitation to come.”

Franks’ second spell at Pools ended unexpectedly in the January window.

Despite the fact that manager Craig Harrison was desperate for him to stay, his hands were tied.

Pools were unable to offer him new terms, due to the fact they are currently under a National League transfer embargo, largely due to their financial issues off the pitch.

The ex-Ross County man added: “My contract ended in mid-January and was unable to resign because Hartlepool are not allowed to sign anybody, so here I am.

“Dean Keates picked up the phone and made me feel wanted, so I came straight down.

“I spoke to Devs [Nicky Deverdics]. He had just signed and he said the gaffer is really good, so I took his advice. People made me feel welcome straight away.”
