A Claudio Ofosu volley four minutes from time sealed the hard-earned draw for Dave Challinor’s side.

Pools named two different sides for each 45 minute spell, with several triallists given a run out by the Pools boss as they look to try and win a contract at the Vic.

Pools fell behind to a third-minute Elias Sorensen penalty, with the hosts leading 1-0 at the break at Newcastle’s training ground.

Luke Molyneux went close in the second half before a couple of superb stops by Brad Young kept Pools in the game before Ofosu’s equaliser.

The squad returned to training last Monday following a short break in their pre-season preparations ahead of the new National League campaign getting underway on October 3.

Pools make the short journey to Spennymoor to take on Jason Ainsley’s side on the 12th of September in their next friendly, before an away game at Blyth Spartans on September 19.
