Hartlepool man who illegally let dog off its lead near his home is given £608 court bill

A man who failed to keep his dog on a lead in a back alley near his home is now hundreds of pounds out of pocket after he was taken to court by council chiefs.

Craig Anthony Legg was convicted by magistrates of flouting a public space protection order near his Hartlepool home on June 8.

Justices were told that Legg breached the order by letting the dog off its lead on a grassed area at the rear of the town’s Harrow Street.

Legg, who lives in Harrow Street, was not present at Teesside Magistrates’ Court when the case was heard and he was convicted in his absence.
