The Greek goalkeeper has joined local Northern League Division One side Thornaby ahead of the 2020-21 campaign.

After being released from Middlesbrough last summer, Konstantopoulos rejoined Pools on non-contract terms in November 2019.

He kept a clean sheet in a 3-0 Durham Challenge Cup win against Tow Law Town at Victoria Park before an ill-fated second first-team debut saw the 41-year-old save a penalty before conceding three times late on in a 3-2 FA Trophy collapse at Harrogate Town.

Konstantopoulos didn’t return to Pools following the match at the CNG Stadium last December and has been without a club until Thornaby secured his signature this week.

Following the signing, Thornaby manager Craig Haley said: “Dimi is a top-class signing for the football club, with his levels and experience both in the Premier League and the Championship with Middlesbrough and also his international football career with Greece.”
