The 18-year-old has been selected in Ian Foster’s 21 player squad which will train together from Tuesday, March 23 to Saturday, March 27.

The Young Lions were originally set to play under-19 European Championship qualifying matches this month but all of UEFA’s youth tournaments have been cancelled.

Young is yet to make his competitive debut for Pools but featured on loan at National League North side Blyth Spartans in the first half of the 2020-21 campaign before the sixth tier season was shut down.

The goalkeeper has previously been involved in England training camps and attracted interest from a number of Premier League sides including Chelsea, where he spent time on trial last season.

Young signed a new deal at Pools at the start of the season, making him one of the few players currently contracted beyond the current campaign.
