Here's what our Hartlepool United writer Robbie Stelling made of the Pools players as Nicky Featherstone's side battled to a hard-fought point against Scunthorpe United.

1. Nick Hayes: 7
Made one superb save towards the end of the first half when he turned Danny Whitehall's close range header round the post as well as a couple of other regulation stops. Looked a little uncertain when it came to commanding his area, although he made a couple of decent claims, and his kicking was poor once again. Nonetheless, deserves credit for having the strength of character to bounce back following a torrid evening against Wealdstone. Photo: Frank Reid

2. Jay Benn: 9
Had his hands full up against the lively Pat Jones and was beaten a couple of times but couldn't have given anything more for his side and was dead on his feet by the end. While he wasn't perfect defensively, his effort, commitment and desire helped set the tone for a spirited Pools showing and he never stopped marauding up and down the flank even when he was visibly exhausted in the closing stages. Made one brilliant challenge in the second half as well as a handful of important blocks. Photo: Frank Reid

3. Maxim Kouogun: 9
Having been so poor against Wealdstone, the Irishman was superb against his former side. Won countless headers, made a couple of brave blocks and helped the visitors withstand waves of relentless Scunthorpe pressure. Photo: Frank Reid

4. Tom Parkes: 9
Monumental. Threw himself at pretty much everything Scunthorpe sent into the box, kept the threatening Danny Whitehall pretty quiet and dominated aerially. Above all, his presence and leadership helped restore some structure and purpose to the Pools back line after shipping seven in his absence in the week. Limped off late on having given everything to the cause. One of the best individual defensive performances of the season. Photo: Frank Reid
