After a fairly even first half, the Exiles asserted themselves after the break with Graham Coughlan’s side looking the most likely to make the breakthrough.
And much like Hartlepool experienced in their favour against AFC Wimbldeon, here they were on the receiving end as Mickey Demetriou headed in from a stoppage time corner.
And here is how Pools fared in another disappointing evening:
5. Edon Pruti - 6
Picked up a harsh booking which nullified him a little but did quite well at left-back considering. Involved plenty. Really incisive ball into Kemp in the first half. (Credit: Mark Fletcher | MI News) Photo: Mark Fletcher
6. Mouhamed Niang - 5
A little bit lost at times in midfield. Lack of communication with Pruti in the first half almost led to a counter-attack. Not the type of player to offer the much-needed creativity Hartlepool needed. Tired in the second half. (Photo: Mark Fletcher | MI News) Photo: Mark Fletcher
7. Mohamad Sylla - 6
Was involved a lot in midfield and won his fair share of challenges despite taking an early blow from Baker. Excellent cross for Finney. (Photo: Mark Fletcher | MI News) Photo: Mark Fletcher
8. Oliver Finney - 5
Wasted a good opportunity to give Pools the lead in the first half with a header from Sylla’s cross. Subbed. (Photo: Mark Fletcher | MI News) Photo: Mark Fletcher
