Hartlepool United player ratings after Marine FA Cup defeat

Max Thompson - 5
Probably couldn’t do anything about either goal but looked nervous in possession.
Reiss McNally - 5
Didn’t look like his usual composed self.
Brooklyn Ilunga - 5
Didn’t really get going and failed to provide any threat down the left-hand side.
Jordan Hugill - 5
Battled away at the top end of the pitch and tried to impose himself on Marine. Didn’t really happen for the striker but he was unlucky with a header early in the second half.
Neo Eccleston - 7
Was given a test by the lively Fin Sinclair-Smith - but more than matched the Marine winger and provided a driving threat from full back.
Nathan Sheron - 6
Worked hard in midfield and remained disciplined throughout the game.
Jack Nolan - 4
Much like a number of his team-mates, starting well but struggled to make an impact as the game wore on.
Chris Popov - 5
Had a couple of early opportunities and tried to provide energy without too much success.
Cole Deeming - 6
Looks so composed in possession as he tried to give Pools some control in midfield.
Max Clark - 6
Looks like a solid addition at left-back with a strong defensive display and a willingness to try and get forward.
Sam Lavelle - 7
A really composed debut from the on-loan defender as he looked commanding alongside McNally.
Subs
Miley (on for Popov) - 4
Tried to get on the ball to turn the tide as the visitors got on top but couldn’t make an impact.
Harris (on for Hugill) - 4
Didn’t receive the service he requires and couldn’t get involved barring one chance.
Bondo (on for Ilunga) - 4
Looks very short of confidence - but did provide a positive moment by forcing a late save out of McIntyre
John (on for Clark) - 4
Didn’t really get involved.
