Our Hartlepool United writer is backing Lennie Lawrence to make three changes ahead of Saturday's game against relegation-threatened Braintree.

5. Left-back: David Ferguson
Has endured a difficult couple of weeks, scoring an awkward looking own goal in the draw with Woking before being given the run around by Barnet's impressive Idris Kanu on Tuesday. With Pools hoping to have more of the ball than they managed in midweek, Ferguson should be allowed to get forward and make an impact at both ends of the pitch as he looks to return to form. 6. Central-midfield: Nathan Sheron
Was part of a midfield three that were outclassed by Barnet on Tuesday night, albeit he was probably the best of the lacklustre Pools trio. Has been excellent this season but looks much better when he has someone more comfortable in possession alongside him and Nicky Featherstone's absence was keenly felt in North West London. Has more competition following the arrival of Jamie Miley from Newcastle but remains one of the main men in midfield. Photo: Frank Reid

7. Central-midfield: Nicky Featherstone
Was rested on Tuesday night and Pools looked a bit lost without his calming presence. Is set to make his 445th Pools appearance, making him the club's third-highest appearance-maker of all-time. Has been a superb servant to the club and still looks to have some more football in his legs. Would love to mark another milestone with three points. Photo: Frank Reid

8. Right-wing: Luke Charman
Toiled away in midweek without getting too much joy as Pools struggled against the league leaders. Braintree have the best defensive record of the bottom eight but Charman will fancy his chances of causing the Iron problems after Lennie Lawrence vowed to adopt a more positive approach at Cressing Road.
