Josh Umerah cancelled out Tyler Magloire’s opening goal for the Cobblers with Pools’ first goal of the season when he bundled in on the goal line before Louis Appere converted from close range early in the second half to claim all three points for the home side.
Pools might have come away with a point but for a fine save from Lee Burge to deny Umerah.
And here is how Pools were rated in defeat.

Really positive in the first half and was behind much of Pools’ success going forward. Free-kick led to the goal. Solid afternoon. (Credit: Mark Fletcher | MI News) Photo: Mark Fletcher
10. Jake Hastie - 5
Couple of driving runs in the first half including Pools' first effort at goal but tired in the extreme conditions after the break. Subbed. Picture by Martin Swinney Photo: Martin Swinney
11. Josh Umerah - 7
An indifferent afternoon. Grabbed his first goal for Pools but really could, and maybe should, have had a hat-trick. Led the line well again. (Credit: John Cripps | MI News) Photo: John Cripps
12. Tom Crawford - NA
Came on to freshen things up in the final 10 minutes. Booked for a foul on Koiki. (Credit: Mark Fletcher | MI News) Photo: Mark Fletcher
