The Tykes claimed their second successive victory after a 1-0 win at Oakwell – a result which moved them off the bottom of the Championship table.

Barnsley dominated possession and created the better chances before Conor Chaplin scored the game’s only goal on 73 minutes.

Struber’s side were nine points from safety following a 1-0 defeat to Birmingham earlier this month but have closed that gap in recent weeks.

“In every action, I had the feeling that we were the winners today,” said Struber after the win over Boro.

“We were amazing and I’m very proud of my team. I hope we can bring this energy in the next few weeks and make it difficult for opponents against us.”

Struber changed his side’s formation and switched to a back three to match Boro up at Oakwell.

The change worked seamlessly as the visitors failed to register a single shot on target, while strikers Britt Assombalnga and Ashley Fletcher spent most of the game on the fringes.

“We believe and we were clear in our plan,” added Struber. “We had a different formation to the other games before and my three centre-backs created a special performance.

“I think our defence style was key that we win. We celebrate a big win against a special team; especially with Assombalonga and Fletcher – they are two strikers with a big quality, and our defenders gave them no chances.”
