Our Middlesbrough writer Joe Nicholson has picked his best starting XI of players who caught the eye in one off games against Boro, both at the Riverside and away from home. Scroll down and flick through the pages of our picture gallery to see who made the cut:
9. LW: Said Benrahma
The tricky winger didn't play against Boro at the Riverside but was a constant threat when Boro travelled to Griffin Park. Benrahma’s dribbling and passing ability as well as his speed opened up several goalscoring opportunities in an action-packed 3-2 win for the Bees. Photo: Alex Burstow
10. CAM: Pablo Hernandez
Still a class act at the age of 35. The playmaker's ability to find pockets of space in front of opposition defences and make decisive passes was a big asset for Leeds. Hernandez assisted both of the Whites' opening goals against Boro this season. Photo: George Wood
11. ST: Ollie Watkins
Only Aleksandar Mitrovic (26) scored more goals in the regular Championship season than Watkins' 25. The Brentford striker opened his account in the Bees' 1-0 win over Boro at the Riverside when he demonstrated his speed and awareness on the break. The 24-year-old also netted the winner in Brentford's 3-2 win over Boro at Griffin Park, showing his goal-scoring prowess late on. Photo: Alex Pantling
