Middlesbrough handed boost in race for Aston Villa outcast, West Ham set to miss out on starlet
Middlesbrough left it late to beat Coventry City in the Championship last night, as Neil Warnock's side held their nerve and came back from a goal down to beat the Sky Blues 2-1, thanks to George Saville's 87th minute winner.
The win sees Boro keep the pace in the race for the play-offs, following an evening of midweek action that saw every side from 5th-10th pick up a win.
Speaking after the game, Warnock revealed his delight with the impact made by his substitutes - Yannick Bolasie, Marvin Johnson Duncan Watmore and George Saville - and claimed: "I thought all the subs made a difference, it’s nice to have those options on the bench.
“It’s a difficult pitch and they’ve changed style completely since the start of the season so we had a taste of that against Cardiff and I thought tonight was very similar.
"I thought we coped with that after another long throw, disaster. I thought we grew into the game then and deserved it in the second half.”
Next up, Boro travel to fourth placed Swansea City this weekend, in what should be a fiercely-contest clash between two well-matched sides.
