The Boro boss has said he wants to sign three new forwards this summer, following the departures of Britt Assombalonga and Ashley Fletcher.
A handful of names have already been linked with a move to the Riverside, and signing the right players is bound to be crucial in the Teessiders’ quest for promotion.
It’s clear Boro won’t have the biggest budget to spend in the Championship, meaning the club will be tracking players who are free agents or available on loan.
Warnock has been assessing several targets in recent weeks and will want to get business done early before players return for pre-season training at the start of July.
We’ve picked out nine strikers who Boro could target this summer.
1. Michael Smith - Rotherham
A striker who is known to be on Boro's radar following Rotherham's relegation from the Championship. Smith, 29, was a handful when The Millers won 3-0 at the Riverside in January and netted 10 league goals for a struggling side. Photo: George Wood
2. Cauley Woodrow - Barnsley
The Barnsley frontman is still under contract until 2023 at Oakwell but may want to consider his options after the Tykes missed out in the play-offs. Woodrow, 26, has scored 14 and 12 Championship goals respectively over the last two seasons. Photo: Jan Kruger
3. Maxime Biamou - Coventry
Another player who will be available on a free transfer this summer after he was released by Coventry. Biamou, 30, may not be a first-choice striker for Boro but could be a useful back-up. Sky Blues fans were certainly disappointed to see him leave after four seasons at the club. Photo: Shaun Botterill
4. Charlie Austin - West Brom
Following his fine loan spell at QPR last season, Austin's contract at West Brom is set to end this summer. The 31-year-old is a natural goal scorer at Championship level and won't be short of options. Photo: Alex Pantling
