‘Our own worst enemy’ – Hartlepool United fans react to ‘embarrassing’ Maidenhead United defeat as National League title hopes end

The 10-men Magpies condemned Pools to their first home defeat in five months and also put a significant dent in their top three hopes.

It’s now back to back defeats for Dave Challinor’s side as they look to get back to winning ways at Aldershot Town next weekend and finish the season well going into the play-off matches in June.

@AndyMcCormack14: “Just coming into form in time for the play offs. On another day Elliott could have had a hat trick. Today, he should have. The galling thing is Maidenhead were no great shakes. We handed them 3 goals. Our own worst enemy at times. Really disappointing.”

@hallydesigns: “Fair play to Maidenhead, excellent performance from them today and some well taken goals. We were abysmal and horribly exposed by the lack of Liddle and the change in formation. Awful time of the season to implode but typical of Pools unfortunately.
