Here's what our Hartlepool United writer Robbie Stelling made of the Pools players as their miserable end to the season continued in Hertfordshire.

1. Nick Hayes: 5
Made one decent save to deny the lively Abdul Abdulmalik in the second half as well as one strong claim from a deep cross but tends to look like a deer in headlights whenever the ball comes near him. Made a very poor effort to thwart Matt Rush in the lead up to the home side's opening goal while his distribution was, once again, woeful. Barring a remarkable turnaround, would expect his days as a Hartlepool United player to be numbered; looked like a shrewd bit of business at the time, but hasn't worked out whatsoever so far. 2. Jay Benn: 6
Had his hands full up against Abdulmalik all afternoon but stuck to his task well and gave as good as he got. Tried his best to get forward with a series of energetic runs down the flank but was often left frustrated when his teammates failed to find him. Photo: Frank Reid

3. Maxim Kouogun: 6
Had an excellent first half but allowed Rush to run off him for the opening goal after seeming to lose his bearings and struggled to recover thereafter. Photo: Frank Reid

4. Tom Parkes: 6
Much like Kouogun, did well to fend off wave after wave of Wood attacks in the first half but failed to get close enough to the diminutive Rush ahead of the home side's second goal, with the prolific frontman allowed far too much time and space to head home from close range. Photo: Frank Reid
