Here's what our Hartlepool United writer Robbie Stelling made of the players after Pools moved to within striking distance of the top seven by getting one over on promotion-chasing Carlisle United in midweek.

1. Nick Hayes: 6
One or two decent saves and did well to get down to deny former Pools promotion-winner Luke Armstrong in the opening stages. Came to collect one cross in the second half but would still like to see him dominate his area more. In general, continues to look really nervous and was a bit fortunate Tom Parkes was on hand to hook the ball off the line after allowing Morgan Feeney's instinctive effort to squirm through his legs. Distribution still leaves a lot to be desired. Photo: Frank Reid

2. Jay Benn: 9
Superb. Could not have given any more and had a big impact at both ends of the pitch. Photo: Frank Reid

3. Maxim Kouogun: 8
Other than one or two slightly aimless long balls, pretty much faultless and coped with Carlisle's considerable attacking threat well while dominating in the air. Photo: Frank Reid

4. Tom Parkes: 8
Excellent on his return to the side, clearing an effort off the line and producing several purposeful balls out of defence. Photo: Frank Reid
