Here’s a look at who could stay and who might leave from the current crop:
25. Jake Hastie
A big earner who, despite showing glimpses this season, never did enough for Pools to feel as though they were getting their money's worth. Has been on loan at Hamilton since January and, with his two year deal set to expire, will leave the North East permanently this summer. Photo: Frank Reid
26. Josh Umerah
After two very solid seasons, during which he twice finished as the club's top-scorer, injuries and having to play second fiddle to Mani D have rather derailed the 27-year-old's Pools career. Underwent successful surgery but it remains to be seen whether he will stay in the North East beyond this summer. Photo: Frank Reid
27. Alfie Steel
Ended the season with his first experience of men's football and will be looking to build on that, possibly with a loan spell, as he continues his development next term. Photo: Michael McGeary / Hartlepool United Football Club
28. Mikael Ndjoli
Remember him? Symptomatic of the slapdash and, at times, totally random recruitment under previous regimes. Has been teaming up with former Pools boss Graeme Lee at Spennymoor since February and hasn't kicked a ball for his parent club all season. His contract expires this summer. Photo: Tom West
