The Glovers led 1-0 with just over 15-minutes to play at The Vic thanks to a fine strike from Tom Knowles.

But an equaliser from Luke Armstrong followed by a last-minute winner by Gavan Holohan saw Yeovil make the 330-mile trip back to Somerset empty handed.

“It’s a massive blow for us, a point would have been a good point because we played quite well and really well in the first half,” Sarll said after the match.

“But with four minutes of play to go, the decisions we made in that moment following the free-kick were hideous, not horrendous, not disgraceful, hideous, hideous decisions.

"It’s cost us what would have been a very good point which would have stitched things along nicely in terms of our momentum and form.”

Sarll also felt his side dominated Pools for the majority of the match before coming undone in the closing stages.

“It’s not the fact they countered or we had an attacking free-kick, it’s the decisions we made away from home with four minutes to go against a side who have been in the play-offs for the majority of the season and a team that for probably 60-minutes we dominated, the decisions were nowhere near,” he added.

“The sad thing is, they were made by players who have lots of experience and played a lot of games for us and there’s no excuse for it.”
