Hartlepool comic Danny Posthill invited on Jason Manford's virtual comedy show

Impressionist Danny, who reached the grand final of Britain's Got Talent in 2015, will be one of a number of comics in The Weekly Stand Up on Thursday, July 30, at 8pm.

The show is a ticketed live stream event from comedians’ homes hosted by Jason Manford featuring the best comedians from the UK circuit and around the world.

He set up the weekly comedy night to help lighten the mood of the country during these difficult times with Covid-19 and help comedians, who have been unable to perform at live gigs due to lockdown restrictions.

Danny said: “I don’t know Jason but he must know I'm on the circuit or maybe been watching some of my online stuff.

"I got an email from him saying ‘do you want to come on and do a spot?’ and I said I would be delighted.

“It’s Jason’s show and he has been doing it every week during lockdown. They have had some great guests on the show like John Bishop and Russell Howard is going to be on the same show I am.

"We all do a little spot each.”

The government allowed outdoor performances with social distancing to resume from July 11.

It says it is working hard to get indoor audiences back as soon as they safely can following a small number of pilot events.

Like thousands of performers, Danny has not been able to work in front of a live audience since the coronavirus lockdown was first imposed back in March.He added: "I think it's great what Jason is doing because a lot of comedians are not working at the moment. Gigs are few and far between.

“I haven’t worked for four months. It has been a difficult time.

"I’ve got through it and hopefully will be back working soon."

During lockdown, Danny has been writing new material including for a show at next year’s Edinburgh Festival.
