Hartlepool businesses 'forced to close' after outbreak of 'appalling' antisocial behaviour

An outbreak of ‘appalling’ antisocial behaviour was so bad it forced some Hartlepool businesses to close, say police

Hartlepool Neighbourhood Police Team, which is investigating, says staff and customers witnessed the shocking incidents in a number of restaurants in the area on Sunday, February 16.

The team says officers will be carrying out further investigations and looking at CCTV to identify and trace those responsible.

It is understood the behaviour centred around The Lanyard and Marina Way restaurants and fast food outlets.

Police said: “Staff and customers witnessed appalling behaviour with some restaurants being forced to close.

“This sort of behaviour is taken very seriously by Cleveland Police and will not tolerated.

“It is unacceptable that staff in the fast food outlets have to be subjected to such disorder.

“Make sure you know where your children are and what they are doing!!!”

The area has historically seen a spike in antisocial behaviour linked to children being off school on the half term holidays.
