Firefighters called to ‘deliberate’ blaze at Hartlepool allotments

Firefighters battled for around three-quarters of an hours to tackle an arson attack on allotments.

Cleveland Fire Brigade were called to the blaze at Nicholson's Field allotments, in Hartlepool, just before 11am on Sunday, March 23.

Two fire engines attended the incident in Dowson Road, in the West View area of town, which damaged two allotments.

A spokesperson for Cleveland Fire Brigade said: “Two fire engines in attendance from Hartlepool and Billingham.

Emergency services were called to the scene of a large fire in the West View area of town yesterday following reports that an allotment was ablaze. "This was a deliberate fire with one allotment well alight and the fire then spreading to a second allotment.

"First allotment 100% damage and second allotment 50% damage. Two jets used.

“We got the stop at 11:48.”

Cleveland Police have been contacted for a statement.
