Firefighters called to house blaze in Hartlepool street

Crews were called to Shrewsbury Street in the town at lunchtime today, Monday, May 31.

Two appliances – one from Hartlepool station and one from Billingham – attended.

No details of the damage are available but it is not believed anyone was hurt.

Two firefighters in breathing apparatus tackled the blaze with one hose reel jet before positive pressure ventilation was used to clear the smoke.

Crews have now returned to their stations.
