The impressive drawing of a man has been found on a large flat rock on the sands at Seaton Carew, but its origins have left people puzzled.

The detailed etching appears to have been crafted using chalk or graphite, and is close to the shore on the beach near Station Lane.

She said: "I just noticed it today (Tuesday, August 11). Its location is near the stairs that are closest to the crazy golf.

“If it’s not Banksy it’s a good likeness.”

The anonymous artist Banksy uses a similar stencilling technique to create satirical or subversive pieces of art on public buildings that often appear overnight.
