Pete Wild issues Hartlepool United transfer message with players available for loan exits

Hartlepool United transfer news update.

Pete Wild has provided a Hartlepool United transfer update - and confirmed there is no room to manoeuvre until players leave on loan.

Wild has told several members of his Pools squad they can leave on loan to get more regular gametime elsewhere as he would ideally like to freshen up his options. This week saw Jack Earing return to Barrow after an injury-hit short loan spell, while goalkeeper Max Thompson has left after his one-month deal was up. It leaves Pools short in the goalkeeper department, though Max Merrick will return to the starting XI on Saturday at Boreham Wood.

Asked if there was any wiggle room to bring players in, with Jack Earing going back, Wild told BBC Tees Sport: “Sadly not, no. You get the honeymoon period, don't you, where you go and get two or three in but again, like I've said to all of you over the last few weeks, the market you're fishing in is a market of people that are not playing at their current club unless we go and pay 50, 60, 100 grand for somebody we ain't going to get anything different. “Are you going in the young loan market? I think we've got enough young boys in the building at the moment. So yeah, Jack going back doesn't really help the case but we've got to try and get more out of the people who we have in the building at the moment.”

He added: “I'd love to freshen the group up a little bit. I'd love to try and bring some players in and move some players on but ultimately, it's not as easy as that. So we've told a few players they can go out on loan if we can get the right thing for them but until we do that, we then can't bring anybody in. So we've got to try and work with what we've got and try and get the most out of what we've got. So that's the challenge also of what we're trying to do. And can some of them players do what we're asking them to do? That is the question mark. And what we're trying to help them to do is make them better.”

When pressed by the Mail, Wild wouldn’t publicly confirm which of his HUFC squad he had told could go out on loan. He added: “No, I think that's a conversation to keep within doors at the moment. I think we need to try and free some wiggle room more. I think it's a balancing act around the players who are not getting what they want at the moment. So, they need to look after their careers and go and find what they want and try and get what they want. We need to try and shuffle the pack and we're hoping them to align sooner rather than later.”
