We made £565 altogether, sufficient to help raise awareness of child abuse in Uganda.

Also to fund two clinics, which will enable children with disabilities to have equal opportunities of education and healthcare.

Elsewhere, problems faced by female children throughout the developing world, which can bring an early end to their education, include female genital mutilation and early and forced marriage.

ActionAid is working to counteract this.

Our first book sale of 2016 will be held on January 25, at Hartlepool Central Library, between 10.30am and 3.30pm.

We would be grateful for books, CDs, DVDs and tombola prizes.
