Hartlepool United 'working hard' to find solutions after 'biggest threat' nullified
Hartlepool United will travel to National League rivals Truro City on Saturday afternoon.
Tyrese Sinclair has been described as Hartlepool United’s biggest attacking threat after his unquestionable threat was ‘nullified’ in Saturday’s home defeat against National League play-off rivals FC Halifax Town.
The on-loan York City winger has enjoyed a productive opening to life with Pools after netting three goals in his first six appearances for Nicky Featherstone’s men after he agreed to spend the remainder of the season at the Prestige Group Stadium in January. That temporary switch saw Sinclair become the first new addition made following Landon Smith’s takeover of the club and he has proved to be a shrewd addition with some eye-catching performances over the last two months.
Sinclair was particularly integral in a dramatic 4-3 win at Solihull Moors as he netted a brace against his old club before finding the net once against as Pools claimed an impressive 3-1 home win against promotion contenders Carlisle United just days later. The winger has struggled to hit the heights in home defeats against Sutton United and FC Halifax Town over the last week - but he is far from alone as Pools were unable to find a breakthrough in both games. Assistant manager Gary Liddle believes Sinclair’s impressive start to the life with the club has led him to be targeted by opposition and he stressed there is a need to ensure the Pools coaching staff can get more out of their other attacking options.
He told The Mail: “He has had that impact since he’s come in where if you do analysis on teams, on Hartlepool United, you’re going to aim to nullify those threats and at the moment, Ty is probably our biggest attacking threat with his creativity and his ability to get up the pitch. I can understand why they went to a three or a back five, they probably would have been very happy with a point today but they have ultimately got three points on the back of a solid away performance. In terms of the question on attacking threat, can we create more and can we score more goals? I am sure we can and we are aware of that and it’s just working around how we can get more out of the current attacking players we’ve got.”
Gavan Holohan update

One player that missed out against the Shaymen was midfielder Gavan Holohan as Jack Hunter, Adam Campbell and Nathan Sheron were entrusted with the responsibility of providing control and drive in the middle of the park. Liddle has confirmed Holohan missed out due to a minor injury to his knock and revealed the former Crawley Town and Grimsby Town man will be assessed this week before a final decision is made over his involvement at Truro this weekend.
He said: “He took a little knock to his knee so it’s one of those where you don’t want to take any risks. We have got Fergie there and he was on the bench so it made sense just to leave Gav out today and we will see where he’s at during the week.”
