Here's what our Hartlepool United writer Robbie Stelling made of the Pools players following Saturday's damaging defeat at home to Halifax Town.

1. Nick Hayes: 5
Continues to look nervous and will probably be disappointed with his role in Halifax's winning goal. Had plenty of time to react to Will Harris' long range strike but looked ponderous getting down in a vain attempt to keep it out. Came to collect a handful of crosses and produced one excellent throw to unleash Tyrese Sinclair and start a counter-attack, although his distribution continues to cause Pools problems and he fired one wayward clearance straight out of play. 2. Jay Benn: 7
Gave a good account of himself against one of his former sides. Photo: Frank Reid

3. Maxim Kouogun: 6
Generally did well but was a bit slow to get out to Will Harris in the lead up to the in-form frontman's decisive late strike. Photo: Frank Reid

4. Tom Parkes: 6
His lack of pace was exposed once or twice but he was dominant aerially before being taken off injured following a blow to the head. Photo: Frank Reid
