Lee Clark has high hopes for West Bromwich Albion loanee Cole Deeming at Hartlepool United

Hartlepool United news ahead of Kidderminster Harriers trip as Lee Clark praises loanee.

Lee Clark believes latest signing Cole Deeming will make a big impact at Hartlepool United during his loan spell.

Last week, Pools confirmed the loan signing of Deeming from Championship side West Bromwich Albion on loan until January. Deeming, handed the no42 shirt, made his debut off the bench last weekend in the 1-0 win over Woking. The 19-year-old midfielder is eligible to play for Pools on loan until January 2. Hailing from Halesowen, Deeming is a left-footed central midfielder.

Pools, who ended a three-game losing run last weekend with victory over Woking in the National League, head to Kidderminster Harriers on Friday evening targeting back-to-back wins. Deeming will be in the travelling squad and ahead of the game he has won praise from Clark.

On Deeming, Clark, speaking at his pre-match press conference at Maiden Castle, said: “Yeah, he settled in really well. The lads are a great group, so they'll welcome anybody in really well. They're tight, they've got great camaraderie but what I think with Cole, I think he's seen in little glimpses, he's got a lovely left foot, a really elegant footballer.

“He can see a pass, can deliver the pass and we believe that he just gives us something a little bit different in the midfield area, in joining in with the other lads who have different attributes. So when he gets up to full speed, it was important that he'd seen what we were about because he'd only had one training session.

“And what we ask - especially from our central midfield players - is a big contribution, box to box. Playing in the high press, not a lot of teams playing with only two midfield players, so getting him used to what we want to do, but he's going to make a big contribution.” he told BBC Tees Sport.
