Our Boro writer Joe Nicholson has picked out some of the better moments, the not so good ones, the players who performed and those who didn’t in our season review. Scroll down and flick through the pages to see if you agree:
1. Player of the season - Jonny Howson
You could also make an argument for Ashley Fletcher who scored some vital goals during an underwhelming campaign. Yet in terms of consistency, Howson rarely let anyone down. The 32-year-old played at right-back, centre-back and in midfield, usually providing a solid option while other areas of the team fell short. Photo: George Wood
2. Young player of the season - Djed Spence
Sometimes just one or two players can make a big difference, and that was certainly the case when Spence burst onto the scene in December. The teenager, along with Hayden Coulson, provided some much-needed pace and energy on the flanks as Boro's form improved significantly over the festive period. Spence was also a key player following Warnock’s arrival. Photo: Alex Livesey
3. Most improved player - Ashley Fletcher
After being a fringe player for large spells under Tony Pulis, Fletcher needed to step up in the 2019/20 season. Following a frustrating start, the 24-year-old scored some crucial goals and finished as the club's top scorer with 13. Paddy McNair also received more game time to showcase his ability, while George Saville improved as the campaign progressed. Photo: Alex Livesey
4. Naughty boy of the season - George Saville
Boro received five red cards during the 2019/20 season, as Saville, Marvin Johnson, Paddy McNair, Marcus Browne and Jonny Howson were all sent off at some stage. Saville also picked up nine bookings in the league, more than any other Boro player. Photo: Clive Brunskill
