Former world No 1 Lee Westwood hails Seaton Carew Golf Club after enjoying round
Seaton Carew Golf Club was graced by the swing of former world No 1 Lee Westwood - and his feedback was just perfect as was his game.
Westwood, playing with his son and two ex-European Tour players Simon Hurd and Stuart Cage, powered round in a brilliant -8 64.
He was eight under at the turn and Seaton’s club pro Cliff Jackson said: “They were delighted with the course condition, commenting on the greens being like carpets and very grateful of the hospitality they received.
“After the round they all popped in the golf shop for a hot chocolate and a coffee, Simon Hurd signed Lee Westwood’s card which showed his score.
“It was quite impressive considering it’s his first ever visit to Seaton Carew Golf Club.”
The group is planning a return.
Jackson was contacted last week because he knows Hurd and Cage from earlier days playing Amateur events such as English Boys and the Carris Trophy.
