Another order for a firm which is building up a great track record in the offshore industry

Workers at JDR which has secured another order for work on the Moray East offshore wind farm.

Cable suppliers JDR have secured another big contract and bosses have hailed it as another boost to their impressive track record in the offshore industry.

The subsea cable supplier, which is owned by the TFKable Group, has agreed a contract for the Moray East offshore wind farm off the coast of Scotland.

JDR will test 100 array cables and two offshore substation interconnector cables in a deal which adds to an order which is already being handed in Hartlepool.

While JDR is making 124 miles of cables as well as accessories in its state-of-the-art facility in Hartlepool, the latest deal will involve workers from the JDR Service Team in Newcastle.

"Neil Brown, Head of Services at JDR, said: “It’s a testament to the sheer hard work and diligence of our offshore teams who continue to produce high service levels for offshore projects such as this one.”

The latest work includes providing technicians, tooling, and test equipment with work due to start in November this year and continuing until mid-2021.

JDR is no stranger to big contract wins. Just last year, it won a deal to design and manufacture cables with Eqionor for the Hywind Tampen floating offshore wind project – off the coast or Norway.

And in 2018, it won a contract by McDermott for the world’s largest offshore oilfield, the Safaniya project, owned and operated by Saudi Aramco.

Bosses said it was a tribute to the quality and reliability of products made in Hartlepool.

JDR has recently celebrated its 10th anniversary of its Hartlepool base.
