Hartlepool stores announce extended hours to welcome shoppers ahead of lockdown

Middleton Grange shopping centre has confirmed a list of businesses which will stay open for trade until 7pm tomorrow, Tuesday, November 3, and Wednesday, November 4, ahead of the new restrictions, which will cover England until Wednesday, December 2.
A list of those which will remain open in Middleton Grange, which is home to more than 100 stores and usually closes at 5.30pm through the week, during the national lockdown restrictions are still being drawn up and will be shared in the coming days.

Hide AdOnly essential businesses are permitted to remain open to customers.


Food shops, supermarkets, garden centres and certain other retailers providing essential goods and services have been told they can remain open, while click-and-collect and delivery services can operate from non-essential stores.
Non-essential retail, according to the Government, includes – but is not limited to – clothing and electronics stores, vehicle showrooms, travel agents, betting shops, auction houses, tailors, car washes, tobacco and vape shops.
It also covers personal care facilities such as hair, beauty and nail salons, tattoo parlours, spas, massage parlours, body and skin piercing services, non-medical acupuncture, and tanning salons.

Hide AdA spokesperson for the centre said: “Before the new Government guidance comes into play on Thursday morning, some of our retailers will be staying open until 7pm tomorrow and Wednesday.
