Blaze leaves Hartlepool pipe firm's workshop with 'severe fire and smoke damage'

A Hartlepool company’s workshop has been left badly damaged after a fire broke out last night.

Cleveland Fire Brigade was called to Propipe Limited, on Queens Meadow Business Park just after 8pm yesterday, Monday, April 12.

It sent three appliances in total from the town and its station in Billingham, with four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus sent into the building.

Two jets were also used, along with two positive pressure ventilation fans to clear the unit of smoke, with a thermal imaging camera used to check the fire was out.

The service left the scene at 9.45pm and said the fire broke out in a workshop structure inside the industrial unit, causing “severe fire and smoke damage” to that part of the building.

Propipe Limited was founded in 1998 and designs and manufactures “a comprehensive range of pipeline pigs, pipeline plugs and pig tracking equipment for the oil and gas industry.”
