Police respond to reports of man with firearm at Hartlepool house

Police were called to a Hartlepool street after a call was made reporting a man had been seen with a firearm.

Officers from Cleveland Police were alerted to Uppingham Street, off Oxford Road in the town, after a call reporting concerns last night, Thursday, October 29.

Witnesses said armed officers were seen in the area during the alert, with the street closed off for a short time as inquiries were carried out.

It became clear after a short time no-one in the area posed a threat.

Today, Friday, October 30, a spokesperson for the force said: “We were called to a report of a man with a suspected firearm at a property on this street at 9.30pm last night.

“Officers attended the scene and there was no report of this.”
