Pensioner suffers head injuries in crash on A19

A MOTORIST was rushed to hospital with head injuries after being involved in a crash on the A19.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the smash, which took place on the A19 near Hartlepool on Bank Holiday Monday.

The collision involved a gold Vauxhall Corsa and a grey Renault Clio and took place at around 3.50pm on the A19 southbound, close to the sign for the A689.

A 68-year-old man, who was the driver of the Corsa, was taken to James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, having suffered head injuries, cuts and bruising.

Any witnesses are asked to contact PC Martin Murphy, of the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit, on the non-emergency number 101, quoting event number 148342.
