Roundabout to be closed for five hours following HGV crash under Tees Flyover

A busy roundabout is expected to be closed for five hours after a HGV struck part of the Tees Flyover.

The Portrack Lane roundabout under the Tees Flyover at Portrack Lane is closed after a collision in which a HGV has struck part of the flyover on Thursday morning (July 2).

Drivers have been encouraged to avoid the area as emergency services suspect it could take a number of hours to deal with the incident.

It is not yet known if anyone has been injured in the collision.

A spokesman for Cleveland Police said: “Drivers are asked to avoid the area, the Tees Flyover is still open, but traffic could be delayed.

“It is anticipated that the roundabout will be closed for up to five hours whilst emergency services deal with the incident.

“We will provide you with further updates when we can. Thank you for your understanding.”
