How Hartlepool United's trio of new signings are helping raise standards.
Pete Wild has revealed the impact his trio of new signings are making inside the Hartlepool United dressing room.
Since taking charge, Wild was immediately eager to bolster his options with experienced players and brought in attacking midfielder Jack Earing and defenders Sam Lavelle and Max Clark on short term deals. Pools are enduring a difficult campaign, struggling at the bottom end of the National League table and already dumped out of the FA Cup before the first round proper.
Reflecting on the three new signings - and them helping drive standards - Wild told BBC Tees Sport: "Yes, that was a massive reason around bringing the three lads we did in because we thought they could help drive standards. They've done that. They've done that great.

“You look at Sam Lavelle and Max in the game on Saturday [against Marine], talking, organising, moving, pulling, pushing people and they've been like that on the training ground as well. I think they're really important. I think they've given the older pros in the building a lift as well because that has given them extra voices so it's not coming from the same voices.
"I think they've been a positive to the group. I think we'll see over the next three to four weeks the progression of the group with that. I'm really convinced that in the next four to six weeks we'll be moving in the right direction and moving the right way. I can see it on the training ground. I can always see it moving in the right direction. I can see the positive, changing mindset, but I still think the building needed that changing mindset in terms of raising standards, in raising intensity. The lads have been really receptive to that and if that continues, we'll be fine."
