The match was decided by two penalties as Marcus Tavernier saw a spot kick ruled out for touching the ball twice, before Teemu Pukki scored for the visitors.

Here’s how some supporters reacted on social media:

@Matt_Rowney: Defensively sound....but 9 goals in 12 games... . We will only get away with defending and nicking the one goal for so long. Think Warnock needs to start being brave and start Roberts more often.

@smoggyontour86: The difference between Boro and Norwich was a striker taking the penalty.

@Cooky34: We’ve now played the 3 relegated teams who are clearly loaded with talent. Bit unlucky to only return a single point, that said I think there is a strong possibility that those 3 clubs will be promoted. Warnock has done an unbelievable job, let’s stay positive

@Paul45379270: First time this season I’ve got really frustrated. Not blaming Warnock because he has limited resources. But we are really poor in the final third we need to find a way to start scoring goals.

@mortonioo07: First time I’ve been annoyed at Warnock after watching that game. Totally wrong substitutions being made.

@Smithy_MFC84: Frustrating, what with the Tav pen, and the fact they beat us with one of their own, it’ll be a test of the squad and it’s character as to how we react against Derby.

@wato6282: Boro should have won, if @_MarcusTavv penalty goes in, we go on to take 3 points. Think us conceding a penalty was down to frustration in the players, Warnock needs to have a word after the game as to why that happened on both counts for us missing, them scoring

@kieranjcrossman: We can’t afford to keep playing Tav as an AM, at CM by all means, but not as an attacking mid

@Chris_Garbutt87: Did he kick it twice? Nobody really knows from the replays. That’s not the story of the game though, it was a poor performance from players not showing enough quality or making correct decisions in the final third. Line through it and on to Wednesday
