Writing his midweek predictions piece for Sky Sports, pundit David Prutton has backed a 2-1 win for the Lions, and revealed he fears for Boro as their opportunities to move out of the relegation zone continue to dwindle.

Justifying his pick, the ex-Leeds United man wrote: "That was a vital late win for Millwall at Charlton on Friday night. It just keeps them within touching distance of the play-offs, but they will probably still need to be perfect between now and the end of the season to have a chance of making it.

"It's not quite going the way many would have been expecting for Neil Warnock at Middlesbrough. He started with a win, but has lost two eminently-winnable games since and they have found themselves back in the bottom three.

"I think they could lose again here, and it will leave them in real trouble."

Last time the two sides met back in August, Paddy McNair opened the scoring in the 70th minute, only for Millwall substitute Tom Bradshaw to level things up five minutes later, in a 1-1 draw at the Riverside Stadium.

In recent history, Boro's record against the east London side has been solid, with just two losses in their last eight matches. The last time Middlesbrough beat today's opponent was back in 2018, when a 2-0 victory helped the club book their place in the play-offs.
