Hartlepool schoolgirl raises £1,200 for charity

A primary school pupil has raised £1,200 for two charities close to her heart.

Throston Primary School pupil Lucy-Ann Robinson raised the money for Down Syndrome UK and the renal unit at The James Cook University Hospital in memory of her mum’s nanna, Brenda Crosby, and auntie, Annmarie Crosby.

Lucy-Ann held a charity event at The Blacksmiths Arms, in Stranton, on Saturday, September 29, followed by an odd sock day at her school on Friday, October 2.

The event featured a raffle, football cards and body waxing.

Her mum, Amyell Kelsey, said: “She’s over the moon to have raised this much.

"It’s well over her target.”

Speaking about Lucy-Ann’s chosen charities, Amyell said: “She decided to fundraise for these ones because they are close to home and she wants to help spread awareness about both.”

Lucy-Ann raises money for charity every year and is already thinking about her next fundraiser.
